How can I retrieve my sms logs for the last year for specific contacts?

I'm a computer science student trying to build up an application to track prices of certain goods. I've noticed my father always receives sms through his small phone that has business data sent to him via sms containing price, quantity, time etc. it's the only source of data that i have for this project. I'm looking forward to analyse the data, establish a trend and possibly predict the future of prices of said goods
